i.e. the good samaritan. if chosen by god asked for my help, i would do everything i could to help him. if one of the roaming trolls on r/s asked me, i would help them. but, here it is. i get e-mail, ALL the time asking me to help convert that person from the edge of christianity to atheism. i will not do this. i do not want to convert anyone. i want everyone to pick up a book, and that would include religious, scientific, artistic and musical books, and read. that would be , and is, my art of persuasion. decide for yourself. but, what if fireball e-mailed you and asked for help. would you help her? i would. without question. and I would not try to convert them, as many of my pagan, christian and witch friends may know by now. how about you?

I don't want to convert anyone, either. Experience has also taught me to be careful about who I help, too. Unfortunately, there are some people who, when you offer them a hand up, will only pull you down with them.

My friends I will definitely help without reservation; you are definitely my friend. :)

8Track, THAT is the essential WAY of a Witch. Most of us tend to be MORE than willing to help others, simply for the sake of helping. OUr Religion has NO relevance in our offering, other than the fact that it's OUR way. We are NOT an evangelistic Faith and we do NOT actively seek converts. If YOU wish to become a Witch then YOU must come to Goddess and God under your OWN power and free choice. I have never seen ANY Pagans of any stripe, trying to bring "converts" into the fold. In fact, there seem to be only TWO Religions that actively use recruitment as a tool to expand their numbers, Christianity and Islam. The rest, simply wish to continue along and be left alone to worship their Deitys in there own way without being harrassed by anyone else.

I made a career out of it.
I have learned to do that quite well.
Nurses are taught in Ethics, we don't judge our patients.
After a while it becomes easy to do in life too. If I judged my patients, I would not be a nurse today 14 years later. I'd be in a phsych ward or worse. Same goes for home life.
You are such a great person. You've helped me out before and I appreciate it to this day. Coming across nice people isn't always easy. I read all the time. From silly to serious, any suggestions are welcome. Feel free to suggest.
Need anything, just ask. Hugs to you (((8TM)))

Of course I would! When someone needs my help, i don't start scrolling down a list of credentials going "Hm. I might be able to help you. But I can't unless you are Mormon." No, true charity doesn't work that way. I give freely and abundantly, but only what i am asked.

Now, granted, some people wish to be converted. They feel something missing in their life that they need. I am willing to put that into motion but i won't do it myself. I am a resource, but not a tool.

Wow it's late. I'm going to bed. Good night all. Je t'aime! (tee hee)

Religion would never enter the picture for me. In fact, if their troubles were so bad and they were religious folk, I'd tell them to lean on their religion at that time, because it is a source of comfort to many.

Help them I would. Prosletyze I would not. Helping someone through illness, pay the rent, get fed, get clothing - nothing to do with religion, everything to do with human compassion- even when they are a complete butt and we may not think they deserve it.

Hell, I'd even feed and clothe Chosen- but I'd find him somewhere else to live.

Yes and I don't try to convert anyone.

Someone yesterday asked a question about conflict between them and their mom because she is a pagan. I gave advice on how to handle the situation without bringing my faith into it.

I answered another one about someone teaching their kid about paganism in a small time. Again, I gave general advice without proselytizing.

I've never really followed a set religion or religions, I've just always followed what I felt was right in my heart so to speak so yes I always help people no matter what their faith is because I don't judge people by their faith but by their personality and how they treat me back.

Absolutely would not try to convert anyone and yes I would help without hesitation. One's path is distinctly individual. It would be against my dharma practice to try to convert anyone.
Even in my current state of insomnia I wouldn't try. Study and questioning and coming to one's own conclusions is the true path for all of us.

No probs helping a person in need. I wouldnt think to stop and ask what religion they are. I have nothing to gain and no interest in converting anyone to anything, spiritually.

But I do think, contrary to popular belief, that good guys finish first. Eventually the "good guys" will find each other and, being good guys, will co-operate... and in that way, FINISH FIRST.
