You guys all miss the point. If the human race were to vanish tomorrow, global warming would continue as it has been for 10,000 years. We cannot stop it. We are currently ENJOYING THE BENEFITS of a warmer Earth with less life-crushing glaciers on it.
Let's be thankful that the ice has retreated two thousand miles to the north, leaving us land to farm and build cities upon.

Be specific. Take a range of predicted scenarios involving global warming, and explain how the world standard of living would have to be greatly reduced to avoid those scenarios.
Be very specific. Look at the UN's "Livestock's Long Shadow," which explains how livestock creates more greenhouse gasses than all forms of transportation put together, and then suggest a course of action from that fact, to begin with - http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=20772&Cr=global&Cr1=warming

Every single person on the planet MUST have heard about it at least 1,000 times by now. I am so sick of hearing, global warming, global warming, global warming. You would think there was nothing else to talk about. Al Gore has created a monster with that movie of his. Of course that was his goal. He succeeded brilliantly.

Buy a ethanol capable car that needs E85 gas pump to run. Tell your family and friends why you bought the car when they ask. This will not only help against global warming but against American dependency on oil. Ethanol based gas thats made from sugar cane is the best. Do your research on how Brasil did it.

The world wont listen, at least the government wont, until ice caps melt or they run out of fossil fuels. Then they'd take up some 'environmentally friendly' fuel and say that it helps diminish the effects of global warming...damn pricks

Sure Al Gore does. The tactic is to waste tremendous amounts of energy and then pontificate to other people about how THEY need to change their lifestyles. Its a great way to create awareness of the problem and in the process you become the very center of attention yourself.

It is not only possible but it has become imperative that all of us start doing our bit to contribute our little effort to reduce global warming. There are 101 ways to reduce GW. But rather than repeating the causes for global warming we should start talking about solutions to tackle this problem in as simple terms as possible so that people can change their mindset and start doing their bit.
U B the change U want 2 C should be the motto. So far as I am concerned, I have been reducing CO2 emission by switching off two bulbs that burn during day time for lighting my living room when the beautiful infinite solar light is just outside my window. So, I brought home the sunshine; reduced my light bill, saved electricity, saved CO2. I gave this idea to the World Bank and they honored me for my innovative initiative U-SEE (Unlimited Saving of Electrical Energy) for protection and preservation of natural resources at grassroots level at IDM2007 competion. Log on to http://dmblog.worldbank.org/mirrors-can-bring-light-rural-homes for a brief coverage of my initiative. U-SEE the benefits: One bulb of 40 watts burning for 6 hours during day time consumes 7 units in a month. Even If just 10 million people can switch off one bulb and adopt my U-SEE method and get free lighting for life with just $10 investment, we can save 70 million units of electricity + save over exploitation of fossil fuels, coal, water + cost of generation of electricity, equipments, machinery, labour, overhead charges, transmission loss of electricity + reduction in CO2 emission with Nth value + cost of free solar light with Nth value + blessings of our future generations since we have taken steps to reduce GW.
There is nothing impossible in this world - what we need is WILL POWER. For further clarifications mail to vkumar_m@yahoo.com
