Can you buy a photo enlarger that is capable of color and black and white? Or do you have to buy them separately? Thanks :)

The lenses of the enlarger do not care about the color of the light passing through them.

Hi, I think u hav never seen any enlarger yet, no problems, i am glad to answer it, actually i use to believe in my early days that if wish to be a good photographer u must knw the printing, so i started my photographic career in dark room using many types of enlargers. coming back to ur question yes u can print B&W with colour enlargers. But with B&W enlarger u can not print colour. Nowadays its even better to use colour enlarger becuase of Polycontrast papers. With the help of Megentta and Yellow u can adjust the grade of the paper i mean contrast of the paper. Hope its answer ur question.

If you are in the US of A, check Craig's List. I see B&W and color enlargers (even complete darkroom outfits) there all the time. Check both the Photo for Sale and the Free sections! The B&W stuff tends to go very, very cheap. I've seen complete B&W darkroom kits for less than $100. As for age... use Google to check for the availability of lamps. Other than that, if it turns on, it works!
