I avoid lip balms w/ mint, camphor or salicylic acid because these things irritate my lips.

Other than avoiding these ingredients, lip balms are pretty similar.

My favorite lip moisturizer is Aquaphor Healing Ointment. It's cheap, fragrance-free, doesn't have a weird taste & is very soothing.

Chapsticks are pretty much all the same. If the chapstick you bought didn't cure the chapped lips then you might want to seek professional help.

I like Avon's Flavor Savers best. They aren't as waxy as chapstick and they aren't as sticky as lipgloss.

There's also a lady who makes lip balm (Bath and Body by Tracy http://www.bathandbodybytracy.com/) that is nice and lighter than chapstick.
