I'm writing a movie and the main character is being questioned by the FBI in Houston. And in the scene I just wrote, he was arrested by the Houston police and the FBI are now taking them into their custody. But my question is: Do they have their own jail facility? Or would they just keep him in the Harris County Jail? I'd rather he be transferred to an FBI holding facility, but wasn't sure if such things existed and don't want to make my movie unrealistic by inventing one. Any help on this would be great.

YOUR MOVIE MUST MOVE ALONG WITH THE WAY LIFE IS.

1) ARRESTED BY HOUSTON.

2) FBI TAKING INTO CUSTODY (INTERROGATION?)(NO CUSTODY WITHOUT A CASE-PRESENT CASE IN HOUSTON COUNTY CAN BE TRIED AND FBI BUILD THERE CASE WHILE AWAITING TRIAL ON PRESENT CHARGES (UNLESS TERRORIST ACT APPLIES?)

3) DO THEY HAVE THEIR OWN FACILITY-NO ONLY UPON CONVICTION IS A FEDERAL FACILITY USED (WHEN SENTENCED -SO IF THEY ARE TAKING INTO CUSTODY, THEY HAVE NOT GONE TO TRIAL OR COURT OR BEEN SENTENCED?
THE LOCAL FACILITIES HAVE ALWAYS HAD A HOLDING AREA FOR PRISONERS WHO ARE BEING CHARGED FEDERALLY UNDER CONTRACT WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. (USUALLY FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.)

4) IN SEATTLE THE KING COUNTY JAIL HOUSES FEDERAL PRISONERS AWAITING TRIAL--ALSO SEATTLE HOUSES THE FEDERAL NINTH DISTRICT COURT IN THE FEDERAL BUILDING.

TO PORTRAY CORRECTLY SEE IF THE ABOVE SCENARIO FITS HARRIS COUNTY JAIL?
GOOD LUCK.

They use MCC the federal prisions. Run by the US Marshals.
Although they is a federal corrections facilities it is under the Marshals department.

While awaiting trial in the area they were arrested in if there is no federal holding facilities the marshalls will pay the local county jail to house them.

When I worked for the Sheriff's Department I used to work for the marshalls (on my off time) guarding anyone they had in the local hospital getting treated. They use to pay me 46.00 an hour and that was many years ago. They use to get a room with 2 beds in it and they would cuff him to the bed both hands and feet and they would tell me to sleep if I wanted. Easiest job I ever had. Could also wear civilian clothes while doing it as long as I had my gun and star on me

I made 15k one year doing that nice pocket money

Anyone arrested by the FBI or any other federal agency goes to local lock up in the county where they are arrested. They will stay there until trial.... Or, in some cases be transferred to a Federal Prison if the trial is some time off.

Following sentencing, they will be transferred to a federal prison to serve their time.

The F.B.I. don't run their own jail, they would use a federal penitentiary. When the inmate first gets arrested they are usually taken to the jail in the jurisdiction where the crime occurred. They are booked, and placed in custody, pending their court appearance for arraignment. The F.B.I. would come to the jail and interview their prisoner if needed. Once sentenced for a federal crime, they would then be housed at a Federal Prison.

Seriously, give the local office a call and explain that you're writing a movie and would like some of the technical aspects cleared up. You could score a mini tour of the place.

Yes. It's called a Federal prison, or as some call it "Club Med"(since most federal crimes are white collar crimes).
