Sometimes a noise from the TV, it can be anything from a dog barking to almost nothing at all, can cause a dog to think that something is up. He was probably dozing, heard it, became alarmed and jumped up barking an alarm.
When he looked back to see you sitting down and unconcerned he relaxed and went back to sleep. I have a dog that does that sometimes. It is quite a racket and gets everyone's heart thumping when it happens out of the blue.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://tr.im/H3J67
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Yes, that's happened to me with my dog. I think he either had a dream or actually heard something that made him go check. Also, if there was someone still expected to be coming home, he may have been asleep but still listening and waiting for that person to come.

Bad dream! My dog will sometimes bark and whine in her sleep without waking up.

Dogs dream just like people do. He may have had a bad dream and didn't fully wake up until he was already in the hallway.
Or...
You could have a ghost in the house. Yeah, I know it sounds weird, but we do and our dog is always watching him and wagging her tail at him.

In his sleep, he may have heard a sound from your tv that he mistakenly thought was "for real". He probably realized his mistake and just decided to go back to bed!!!

He was dreaming. It's fairly common and quite cute, don't you think?
