I don't know if my question makes sense, but I don't like how the line of the tip of my nails are shaped. Like where the quick (pink part) & tip (white part) meet. I used to put sharp things under my nails to try to get dirt and stuff out & it ruined the shape. I don't know how to get it to go normal again! The line where the quick & tip meet is all lumpy looking & not smooth. It's been like this for a longg time. Is it possible for the skin and nail to reattach so that there's a smooth line again?

Eventually they will return to normal, IF
1] don't put any objects under nail - use an orange stick, ONLY if you cant't scrub it out with a nail brush
2] after washing hands, apply a rich hand cream
3] apply a dab of vaseline under nail, and on cuticles before bed [ they will heal faster if 'protected' ]

Don't use your fingernails to pick up or at things. Like when I use my nail to scrape off a sticker, it makes that edge worse. If your nails are nicely filed , you can run the nail from one hand under the other at that edge and it'll help even it out. That is, run your left thumbnail along the underneath of your right thumbnail, lightly pressing that edge you're talking about. This helps round them and doesn't seem to do any damage. You don't want to do it hard because then it'll hurt. But then once you get them smoother, they'll continue to grow out that way (if you don't mess them up by picking like I always do...). I hope that made sense. I asked a friend of mine years ago and that's what she told me. I tried it, when I'd be bored in class or whatever, kind of like drumming your fingers or twitching your foot, and it helped. So does trying to be conscious of not using your nails for things that make it worse...!
