HI,
My friend hooked me up with an appointment with Primerica, and I have already attended one of their meetings. I can get the job 100% if I want to. The question is... do I WANT to?!?!
It says on Wiki that this is the biggest financial service organization in North America. At the meeting, they talked about how I didn't need an education, they will accept eveyrone. Our schedule is flexible to whatever we want. We go through a training program which usually takes around 3-6 months, depending on how fast you want it. After that, we take a licence exam and can start communicating with clients on our own. We can earn $800 for 2-4 hours of advising for our clients. HOWWWW????? How do we not need education? How can we earn that much so quick??? WTF is going on?
Anyone have experience with Primerica? I am a full time university student so I'll be doing this part time (they allow it) if I decide to. I want to know whether or not its a good idea to continue with this.

Everything in the 2nd paragraph is what they presented at the meeting.

Hi. I was part of a Primerica group years ago, and I liked the fact that you were helping people do more with money that they are already spending. One thing I didn't like, and the reason I got out was the debt consolidation loan program they had. The interest rate was 20%! When I questioned by upline about it, he simply said, well, thats what the rate is. At that point, I could no longer continue with that company since I couldn't help someone with that kind of interest rate.
That was about 8 yrs ago, so hopefully it's gotten better.
Just my 2 cents.

Primerica is like a financial institution gone MLM. Not only are you trying to sell financial products (which may or may not be very good), but you are trying to recruit others to do the same. If you are not sure you are good at sales, don't do it. Not only will they charge you to get into the program, but you have to pay to take all the tests yourself--and they will probably cost you over $500. Also, the $800 for 2-4 hours is a definite exaggeration. That is an example of one person's sale. Sure if you sit down with someone and make a large sale, you may have only spent 2-4 hours talking with them, but think of all of the hundreds of people you had to talk to just to get that one person to sit down with you. And all of the others who you sat down with, but didn't really have any interest or enough money to invest to make it worth your while. Be aware before you make up your mind, that the name Primerica will cause many people to hang up the phone or walk away before you even get a chance to have a real conversation with them. The salespeople of Primerica are perceived by many to have little real expertise, and are able to offer only a limited number of quality products.

i don't have experience but it is not a regular job. you pay them $199.00 or something like that. then you have to pass state examinations for the health and life insurance license and the series 6 license for investments. during that time, you have to give leads to the person you sign up with..you know, your parents, neighbors, friends, etc. they have meetings to try to sell stuff like insurance, retirement packages, investments, pre paid legal (billed monthly), identity theft service, etc. if you dont have your license, then they may split the money with you.
if you have your license, then you get full credit. but you have to keep beating people for meetings so that you can either sign people up to be associates (you will get paid for their work..at least a portion) or sign up for one of the services you offer. this is a never ending cycle. you have to be able to talk to people all day long. you may want to put your phone number on your car for advertising. or you can advertise anyway that works for you. but you never stop talking.
your goal is to sign somebody up for something every single day. you may have to talk to about 10 to 25 people each day. with each person, you have to try to squeeze leads out of them whether they are interested in the service or not.
if you are not good with people, then you had better learn it. you have to change your personality to fit whom ever you are talking to.
the smartest egg heads may not make it, but the class clown will because of the personality. you have to build trust with each person.
overall, you can not get a license if you don't have a squeeky clean background...no criminal records, etc. and you have to study your tail off because those tests are hard and most people fail the first time. a few pass the 2nd time. i saw a woman who failed about 16 times and kept trying. those tests are expensive. depending on where you live. but i would say about 125.00 each time.
well, the bottom line is that you don't get a salary. you get paid from commissions only. that is why you have to try to find people, do presentations and try to sell them something.

I believe its a sales position selling securities, insurance, mutual funds, etc. Is it pure commission? Sales can be a long and difficult road. Can you convince people that you are knowledgeable about financial products and services?
