The Bible surely gives us looks at both........but I do believe if you check it out, you will find that the Lord Jesus talked more about Hell than He did about Heaven. It was a serious matter to Him, and He did not want people to go to Hell. But He has left the choice to each one of us.

Dear realchurchhistorian,

i believe in the Bible there are more references to hell than there is to heaven. There are several reasons i believe why that is:

1) When you read the description of what Heaven is like in the book of Revelation it is a mind blowing picture. John describes a sea that looks like a sea of glass, etc. (and when you examine John's language closely)-- it's almost as if he can't even describe how magnificent it is with words- so he has to use an abundance of words such as like. Just trying to get a mental picture of what it is like is amazing- and i so look forward to seeing it for myself.

2) The main character of the Bible is Jesus! Jesus came to show man how to have an eternal relationship with God. Jesus is never forced upon any person- but people have a choice to freely choose him or deny him. To deny him is a person making a choice to reject salvation and heaven and choosing to go to hell. Jesus is not wanting anyone to go there- but He gives us the freedom to choose. i believe the Bible talks more about Hell because Jesus is in the business of rescuing souls from Hell.

Anyhow as a student of the Bible- those are my thoughts. Hope they help. Kindly,

Nickster
