I know this guy...honestly, he's great. But good grief! He's had a personals ad up and running for 4 years now. Previously had a girlfriend he DID NOT meet on-line. Dumped her. And has been in search of ever since. He is on-line at least twice a day, searching and responding to e-mails. And I know he's met a number of girls on there. But what do you think the problem is? What is he looking for or not finding that is taking him this long? Anyone else out there who has or had an ad running that long? Don't you think that's strange??

Haha Marian...no. He's not gay. But it did make me laugh. I never thought of that. :)

Omg, I *totally* have seen this too with a few of my other guy friends... guys who have staked out on dating personals' sites for years (I would say similar, 3-4 yrs), but the killer thing is that they're still ON there (like active) even when they're in a serious relationship!
Ok.. I know i'm not their mother or sister.. but it drives me up a wall b/c I think it's so disrespectful to their g/f's... and to a lesser degree of cheating. I'm sure their g/f's would be pretty hurt if they knew.
Basically, I read it as major insecurity.. that these guys are waiting for the ONE girl, soulmate, to show up and then everything is happily ever after. But for someone like your friend - if he's single and constantly doing this and not finding the right one, I'm assuming it's very close to this reason, hence being VERY picky.
Maybe us girls should give them a blunt, heart-felt talk...

If he has been on for that long it is possible there is something wrong with him, but it seems more likely he is just looking for easy hook-ups and he isn't interested in a relationship or a wife. He might actually be happy with the way things are going. The other option is that he has a fear of commitment.

Can't really put a time on finding love. It's just not his time right now. No need to think that he has to find that special someone before a certain time or age. They say you always meet someone when you least expect it.

He is probably just looking for a decent girl that matches what he wants in a woman.
Nothing wrong with being picky.
