Around here the headlines in the papers are that the Mashpee Wampanoag nation is running a Wampanoag language immersion class that they will eventually fund with their casino revenue. No one has spoken that language for at least a hundred years but now they are paying big money to get people proficient enough to run an education system featuring that Indian language. Now there is a money maker for someone with the right language skills.

I am an International "Tamil speaking Indian" - U learn tamil and U make heaven in almost all south east Asian nations - well, Singapores president is a Tamil , many Malaysian major ministers are tamil same goes to Indonesia and other south east asian nations ( U know something, all Tamils are crazy of one fanatism - "The Tamil Language" and if U can speak it U can get them to do almost anything for U - hey man I dont joke around)

U go Canada, Ireland , South Africa, US, Maldives, latin America and other places and Tamil can be very very handy and valuable!!

besides there are several expensive Tamil movies being release this Diwali - high high budget action pack movies - like Kanthasamy with shreya and so and so - dont ever miss it

Pretty girls - Maybe I sugest you to go to KERALA state - there are many there who can be said mind boggling and eye boggling and everything boggling as well ( just my point )..or Karnataka. ( Aishwarya rai / Shilpa Shetty is from there)

Historical - well there just over 100 ancient granite temples aging nothing less then 1000 to 2500 years old. - you need more then the time U have if U are gonna inspect all ancient wonders of Tamil Nadu. ( The Meenakshi Temple was only behind taj mahal in getting proposed for new seven wonders of the world ) and so so much more.

Social community - well it all depends on how you bring Urself ( I guess so ).

Remember tat U can have keralatis or Telugus speaking malayalam and telugus but most of the most southies if not speaking they all can atleast understand tamil.

Why do you want to learn an Indian language. Your English is excellent. You can get around any where and impress pretty girls with English than using Indian language. Most of the people in India understands English so you won't face problems to make friends.

If you are really interested I would recommend Tamil because it is fairly easy to learn and 27% of south indian people speak Tamil only.

Hmm, well I'm not an Indian but I have extensive experience with Indians of south origin - well, If its south you say - then for entertainment bizz and historical background or international approach you might want to consider tamil but pretty girls are definately not from there at all - unless you are planning to go north !! and for the friendly community ......sorry I dont know

and another thing, if its south then hindi is surely not the soul medium there - be it either in thier movie bizness or historical portfolio and neither do they speak it since each regional states practises thier own regional language and this is very true and strong for states like Tamil.

Hi

Telugu or Tamil should be a good choice. Both have great movies, are rich in history and tourism, a friendly and large community. Telugu has the advantage of more pretty looking girls and more international, since every telugiite knows somebody in the US!!!. All the best and write if you need any help in those two places. I am a tamilian, but born and brought up in the Telugu heartland.

Hindi would be the most practical, I believe. Hindi is the national language (even though it's only the native language of one area) and I think everyone who goes to school there is required to learn some of it. All Bollywood movies are in Hindi.
Tamil would probably be the second best. That film industry is called Tollywood.
