Military reserves? As the name screams out, they're a reserve force of the military. Used to alleviate the strains on manpower, military reserves are almost always part time servicemen posted at a place of their choosing.
Typically a military reservist does the same training as an active duty servicemen, but the only permanent parading/work they do is on specific days. I believe it's one weekend a month for American Reservists - in Australia, it's one night a week in addition to the weekend.
Although Reservists usually have some civilian occupation they're usually busy at, deployments do often last months at a time - the military does protect your job or university placement while you're away, though.

They act as a reserve force for the military. The train on average about one weekend a year to keep them current. They go through the same training that active duty personal do at the beginning of their career but don't do the job everyday. As of lately they have been helping to fill rolls in Iraq. Hope this helps, good luck with your decision.

Depends on the branch of service and what unit you are assigned to. There are various units in the Naval Reserve, depending on your rate and the location of the reserve center (now called operational support centers).
Then main job of the reserves is to prepare for mobilization. It does happen; I was mobilized in 2005 and was asked to volunteer for a deployment in the spring.

Pretty much the same as the regular army. They have the same MOS's they do the same jobs, but unless on deployment or activation, it's only one weekend a month+ 2 weeks a year.

Always a good idea to join as a reserve.
If you like it you can always up to active duty.
You can not do it the other way around.
