My friend and I are trying to raise money for a trip that we are planning to go on with our Girl Scout council in a few years. We are trying to think of some really good ideas since we will be having many since the total amount that we have to earn is $4,000+ Any suggestions???

Well you have to abide by the Girl Scout fund-raising guidelines to start. That's why they have the fundraisers they have. Anything else has to be approved. Ask about having a bake sale, we did that one year. Another thing is ask for donations. Donations are always acceptable. Good luck.

I would like to add that a lot of things have changed over the years with the Girl Scouts. Things that were allowed back when we all were young are not so much allowed now without proper authorization and tons of paperwork. It all falls on liability reasons. Again, also, only certain fundraising things are allowed now. Make sure you check with your local council and policy on it.

Olivia,
I have some ideas that may be of help to you. If you are still interested, email me through my profile and I would be more than happy to share with you. I was a Girl Scout when I was younger (1st grade -Senior year), I earned my Silver Award and Gold Award and learned many valuable skills from my leaders through the years. Great luck on your trip!

I've actually had to do A LOT of fund raising for sports.
and school activities.
one idea..
is having sponsors, such as local police stations..restaurants donate a certain amount to your organization.
this has been a huge help for every fundraiser i've done

-im new at this yahoo question thing!

try carwashes.
what we did for my youth group at church was like a cleaning service for the people that were members of our church at their homes (clean windows, vaccuum, mop/sweep, ect) and then they just donated whatever amount of money they wanted.
also try a bakesale...you could do that at your carwash too. or be like an errund runner for people that are too busy to get little things done like grocery shopping or goin to the post office, ect. Also try like a lawn mowing service, people love not having to do that. hopefully yall will come up with something...good luck but rememeber that you can do these more than just once... ; )

A tall order: but you will certainly make that! best of luck! (organise games, carnivals, street singing etc., collect donations, the approved way: go ahead and give it a try!)
