Hmm, actually, that punishment sounds pretty lenient to me. If I were your Dad I would have done a lot worse! You would have lost all internet and cell phone privileges for at least a month, would have been grounded for the same time, and would have had several lectures. You would probably have had to write a letter of apology as well.

I'm probably wrong but I think that that was a fair punishment. I thinking grounding you was fine. Other parents would ground you for longer. I think taking your phone away was good and so was taking your computer away. I don't agree on the spanking though. I'd hope that after a week you get your phone and computer back.

What I want to know is ...if your laptop was taken from you how did you ask this question?

It's his house, his rules, his right. Fair doesn't come into it. Hell, I'm a stoner, have been most of my life, so you know that I'm not saying this because of the pot. While you live under his roof, you do as you are told, or suffer the consequences. He is looking out for you, doing the best he can in a world that is not fair. When I was your age I tried to turn my mom onto pot, you should have seen the whooping I got for that brainstorm!!! Believe me, trust your dad, he's been around, he knows whats up. And next time, be more careful, it's not just your dad you have to worry about, the cops are'nt crazy about it either!

your lucky that was all he did. What you did was serious. Do you know how many accidents happen due to being under the influence. What if something would of happened to you, thank God nothing did, but stop and think. What if something happened and your parents are at home thinking their child is safe then they get a call from the police .soo of course they would be pissed. What you did was selfish and stupid. All you seemed to care about is your stupid laptop. And not the fact that you put yourself in danger and worried your parents. Cudos to your parents for whipping your *** cause you deserved it. I hope you learned your lesson.

No matter what kind of punishment you were given,it was done this way to teach you a lesson and for you to learn from it.You may have bought your own laptop but if you didn't have permission to work for it you wouldn't have it would you.So the next time you go somewhere you will remember this punishment so you will make better choices in your life.Sorry to burst your bubble but your Dad was right in what he did.So wipe your tears and smile because he cares about you believe it or not.A lesson well learned I hope

Grounded for a week? Are you kidding? You got off easy if you ask me hon. I'm a mother of five and if any of my children did that, you could kiss a few months goodbye. And those months would be spent doing mindless chores if you didn't have a job, just so you thought long and hard before making another bad decision like that. Laptop be damned. I don't care who bought it, if it's a source of communication, they have every right to take it away.

Yes.... absolutely. You are worried about $1200 laptop when you were ARRESTED with criminal activity with multiple counts? Your mistake was far larger than your punishment.

You might think, you paid for it entirely, but you really didn't. Your family is supplying you with everything else - that allowed you to use 100% of your money for one thing. You didn't pay for any of the life's necessities.... which are far more costly. Do you ever think about that?

It is time to be humble and serve your punishment. Ask for his forgiveness rather than asking the community if he is being fair and try to argue with him.

Consider your responsibility BEFORE you speak of your rights. They go hand-in-hand. You can't enforce one without accepting the other.

Depends, did you drink or do that drug? If you did, then that punishment seems a little cheap, but also fair, I agree with the one under or above me, if i were your dad i would have done ALOT worse. But a dissagree with the laptop thing. If you bought it with your own money and everything, not a single dime from your rents' then that seems COMPLETLY un-fair. You should talk to your dad about that. And just a week? I say you got lucky...

Ok #1 nothing is 100% yours kido till your butt turns 18 and you are in control of yourself! I worked with juveniles and in most states any item you posess is not yours if you are not of legal age or under emancipation. Everything down to your shoe laces is retrievable by your parentals unless otherwise specified by a legal binding will or inheritance! So nice try...and I don't blame them if you are not mature enough to make more responsible decisions then by god you do not deserve the right to claim a damn thing if you bought it or not! Kid you have a lot to learn!

Your father was right in what he did...It shows he loves you and that should mean alot..Right now at the age of 16 you don't think about that stuff but later on you will..So be glad that your father loves you enough to punish you only to try and make you a better person
