Hey guys I have a question about Military Intellegence. I am going to enlist pretty soon. I would like an MOS that would allow me the most exposure with foreign contacts. I am an Arabic-Born Speaker, and Born US Citizen. I am interested in an MOS that would allow me more field type work, especially one where I Would use my Arabic to our advantage.

So far the best job SO far seems to be Human Intellgience Collector. Also I am very much interested in Cryptologic-Liguist. These are my main interests. What do you guys think would be best?

I would highly suggest the Human Intelligence Collector. They are in high demand in the field and the fact that you can speak Arabic would give you an advantage over other soldiers for promotion and gets you extra money.

I have met 3 people that were linguists in the Army. My cousin was a German linguist stationed at Ft. Riley KS. he went to Germany on 2 REFORGER's. A guy I worked with was a Chinese linguist stationed a a small base west of Petaluma CA. He was listening to radio traffic all day. The 3rd was a guy I met at a 7th Army School (1974) in Bad Toelz. He was in the ASA in W. Berlin. He sat in an office pulling inbound RATT (radio teletype) tapes off a old Klienschmidtt TT.

Not sure you will get a lot of movie type spy stuff in MI. I did work briefly with an FBI agent that had infiltrated the Russian Mafia years ago. All that did was make him jumpy.

Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it!

Try the CIA or FBI if you are looking for "spooky" stuff.

I would suggest Human Intelligence Collector, as you would be in the field most of the time, interacting with locals or tagging along with patrols.

The Linguist position mostly deals with monitoring transmissions and translating documents, so unless that tickles your fancy...

35M's are used a lot in gathering Human Intelligence because there are not a lot of them there is a high chance for deployments and other duties for them. It is especially good if you are looking to increase your communication skills for picking up the opposite sex. It doesn't really matter what language you speak, if you don't know it you'll have an interpretor working for you.
