The 96+ Mercury Sable and Ford Taurus are unlike most other vehicles in terms of installing audio equipment. They're not bad after you've worked on a few, but they're not the best cars to start out on. Finding a route through the firewall for your power wiring can be especially tricky in this car.

I'd advise leaving it to the pros. If you decide to try it yourself, do plenty of research ahead of time; your friends' experience in other vehicles won't help much with yours.

it is not really all that complicated, but since you say you have no idea of what's behind the stereo I would have it done professionally. . . One simple mistake could mess up the whole system. . .Just do it professionally. . .

you can if you have the perseverance, just follow the wiring diagram of the subs and spk. why pay if you can do it yourself, just don't interchange the neg. and pos. wires and don't get anything grounded. set up a master plan first w/ your friends who understand and put everything to work
