The behavior of your son's mother is called "sabotage" and has nothing to do with religion.
For some reason, this woman has decided to sabotage your relation with your son by trying to make him believe you are an evil person. The goal of this is to show you how much she dislikes you. She's using your son as an intermediate for her hatred, thinking you won't be able to get back at her this way. It's a very cowardly, yet common, thing to do.
You should have a talk with this person face-to-face, while the son is not present (in the house or near by) and tell each other what you think of one another.
Do not tolerate this, as it will alienate your son from you. This is a basic form of brainwashing. Plus, since she's using religion, she will probably get her community to assist her in this. Children are very sensible to this sort of manipulation, it will damage him profoundly.
Also, do not undermine the mother in front of the child, as it will make things worse.
I work with divorced couples and it is a terrible situation that leads to worse things.

From my personal experience...the most judgemental, critical, revengeful, and evil people I have ever known profess to be " Christians"!! I am 43 years old and spent many, many years in church/organized religion and those were literally the most miserable times of my life to this day.
I am sorry your son said you were evil just because you did not go to 'church'. Maybe you should sit down with your EX and tell her to STOP telling your son that you are Evil. Sounds like she is trying to win him over, make you out to be the bad guy, etc. Good Luck.

That is horable! Let me tell you as a Christian...that is not a "Christian thing".I went through a similar thing that had nothing to do with religion but a crazy ex'es control.Oh man! I have been sitting here for 10 minutes trying to think of some words of wisdom for you. That poor son of yours. I just can't understand how some women(usually) use their kids as a weapon against their ex with no thought of what it is doing to their kid.The only advise I can give you is do or say what ever will help your son through it and suck up what it does to you. At least in the end you will know you were a good dad.

Atheists are not evil. If those people said that to your son, then they were out of line. I am a Christian and don't believe that anyone can claim perfection or even be half-way there. I applaud you for your open-mindedness in your answer. There are a lot of Christians who do a lot to give the rest of us a bad name, but most are okay - all are sinners.

I am of the Christian faith by choice. You are an athiest by choice. Each mind has a different charachter. I am at peace with the athiest. It is not my right to question your belief. I have asked the christians numerous times to back down and leave you in peace. I cannot control the minds of these people that are hell bent on trying to make you another follower. I will remain at peace with all religions that are practiced. Some of them are well worth the time to do further studies on.
I am referring to the Asian and Indian religions.

Most atheists are probably not evil, but hell is not reserved for just those who do evil deeds.
Hell is there for anyone who rebels against God, and has not accepted the sacrifice of His Son for the atonement of their sins. That is what the Holy Bible teaches, so that is what most Christians will tell you.
You may not be evil, but to a Christian you are misguided.
Rebelling against God is one sin, but to teach others to rebel against God is yet another more grievous sin.

Christians think Atheists are evil because Christians are full of hatred and misunderstanding and are always standing in a fighting stance, ready to jump and attack anyone who does not follow their rigid belief system. They say that only God can judge you, and yet they never hesitate to tell an innocent stranger that he or she is going to burn in hell for all of eternity, possibly for reasons as small and insignificant as the fact that that person has a tattoo...What's up with that?

That's crazy. It's not "evil" to believe in no god. heck, I'm Buddhist in a family of Christians and they all accept me! Some christians are more narrow minded than others. I've resolved that it's mainly Catholics and Lutherans. Just ignore your ex and try to knock some sense into your kid. No wonder you divorced her...

I think everyone is evil. Just because all are not as bad as they could be, doesn't mean they're not evil.
The only thing good in the case of a christian, is IF they are born of God's spirit in a second birth. Then the 'goodness' they possess is not really their own, but God's
Like it.....or don't.....it doesn't mean it isn't true.

Don't you mean why do "some" Christians think that atheists are evil? I don't judge people as evil, just because they don't believe in God. But I do think that was very disrespectful what his mom said about atheists to him. He needs to be allowed to learn to respect people reguardless of their faith, or lack of it.
