I am on 10 mg of provera to be taken for 10 days, my last day was Friday, 10/26. I took a pregnancy test before I took the pill on day one and it was negative. For the past few days my breasts have been sore, so I took 3 pregnancy tests today, all positive. I went to get a blood test and I will not get the results until tomorrow. I should be jumping for joy because we have been TTC for almost a year, but instead I am really worried. I have read that provera, if taken during the first 4 months of pregnancy, can cause birth defects.

Anyone experience anything similar? Any reassurance, if possible, would be great.

So, I just heard from my doctor and I AM PREGNANT. She said not to worry about taking the provera that everything will be fine.

you dont need to worry. back before there were hpt doctors used to give provera to woman to see if they were pregnant. if you don't get your period in the next 2 weeks or so then that means you are pregnant, otherwise the provera will make you have a period.

good luck!!

Hello. My doc prescribed me Provera for the second time this month. My last day of 10mg (taken for 10 days) was also Friday, 10/26. The first time that Provera was prescribed to me was in August. After taking the pills, 5-6 days after I started my period. My breasts were extremely sore and I really thought I was pregnant. Although I am not discouraging you but after that time, I really believe that the sore breasts (and other symptoms that I had) weren't pregnancy but were due to Provera....

Honestly, the way I was feeling in August, I really truly felt that I was pregnant.......until my period started.....But good luck and please keep us posted!
