Six years ago I had a whirlwind relationship with my now ex-boyfriend. Things progressed so quickly we ended things b/c we were both in different places in our lives at the time. He had just gotten out of a 3 yr relationship, and I had never had one prior to meeting him. I was so heatbroken when we ended things. We knew it was real, but that the timing was off. It has been about 5 yrs since things ended between us, and just recently we started talking again. He has confessed how guilty he has felt since our breakup and how much he missed having me in his life. A lot has changed in both of our lives and we are so much stronger and aware of what we want now. I have moved around the country in the last 5 years, and only just recently moved back to this area. He wants to see me and keeps wanting to make plans when we talk to do things together, movies, dinner,etc...should I take this as a sign that I should give him a second chance to see if there is still something more between us or run?

I have been in this situation more than once. I think you should go with your gut instinct and it sounds like you just need a little encouragement to give it another go. Just do a little prodding around and make sure he isn't married now. If you could find out somehow what he has been doing and how other relationships have gone for him in the last 5 years, I think that may be helpful. I have gone thru this before like I said and wished I would have done a little checking.

The past isn't called the past for nothing. Let it go and move on. The past will only get in the way and stop you from doing or having some of the greatest expereinces of your life. You don't want to miss out and wonder what if.

I was in a similar situation. I took the leap of faith and gave him a second chance. We're getting married in March. Good luck!

Go slow, but make sure you have seen every side of this. Sometimes we return to the familiar when things aren't so hot.

if things went really well back then, then go for it.

if it was a shitty relationship back then, then it should stay in the past.

me personally am in a good relationship and if it ended i still wouldnt go with any ex's before him.

Don't listen to these other people, go for it!!
If he treated you well last time, and all that was wrong was the timing, then you should go for it!
Sometimes timing is everything.
