I want to dye my hair brown, using the dye they have at CVS and stuff, like that product for men or whatever. But I was wondering, does the brown dye lighten my black hair, or will it just not show on black hair???

Does a brown crayon show up on black crayon?

Usually, not many colors show up on untreated black hair.

You have to look on the side of the dye box, where they have the little color guide.

Try dyes made for African American hair - they're usually stronger. Just make sure you deep condition.

Most likely, no. Black dye is very hard to get out. I would go to a stylist. They will help you get what you want in the least damaging way. You might have to go back a few times but it will be worth it since you will experience no damage!

since black is darker than brown it will not show up, black hair has to be prelightened to show up a lighter colour

it will show up on the black hair if your hair is naturally black.
