I am looking to join the Air Force and would like to know if it is a good decision to make. easy 10 points

I want the safest branch with the best opportunity of a career and shortest trips away from home. I know none of them are safe. I am also considering Navy. All thoughts appreciated because of the life-changing ability of this decision.

no way... i almost joined, and i ended up going army.

since then i have been on air force installations both in the states and overseas...

every day i thank god i didnt end up one of them.

like a day care with guns. ive seen them shoot themselves and each other.

people say you are safer in the AF, but honestly, if anything bad ever happened... who do you want to be with? a group of soldiers or marines who has trained and trained in preparation of that moment... of a bunch of guys who operate their airfield like they are an airline company.

while riding on their aircraft, they get so mad at us, because we dont listen. we stretch out and go to sleep on the floor or where ever we want..

they have some of the silliest rules.... they tried to make me wear a reflector belt all over iraq... cmon.. its a combat zone.

watching them try to fly helicopters was insanity.

IMO.... Go army...

That all depends on what you are looking to get out of the military. Let us know what you want to do once you are discharged. There are many different traits that each service has that has it's positives and negatives. I myself was a Marine and am partial to them. But, I know the other services did and continue to do there part which has made America what it is today. Like I said before, let us know what you want to get out of it and we could be more help. Best of luck in whatever you do! And thank you for considering serving our country!

So you want a career in the military? There are many different opportunities in the military. Like someone else said, take the asvab and that will let you know any mos that you qualify for. Go to a recruiter and get a list of the different mos's from the Air Force and Navy. Try and find one that interests you. Pick a few of them out, take the asvab, and decide what you think you would enjoy most. Once you have some picked out, come back on here and try and get some more info on them. I would still try and find a mos that you can use once you get out. You might say now that you want a career out of it but won't know for sure until you have served at least one term. And if you retire after 20 years, you will probably still have to be employed for awhile once you get out.

joining any branch of the US Military is a good choice... Now depending on what you want to do, It may or may not be the best decision for you... What kind of Job are you looking for and how high have you scored on your asvab... You need a fairly high score to get in to the Air Force... There are pretty much zero enlistment bonuses.. And if you think you wont deploy please think again... Air Force has deployments just like the other branches... Not all of the deployments are as long but they do happen...

My husband is currently overseas, He is in a hostile zone so please don't think that the Air Force has it 100% easy.... I'm so tired of every one saying that the Air Force is for Wimps... That really makes me mad... My husband could die over there just like anyone else fighting over there... Please people look into the Air Force a bit more before you say anything...

And for those who complain about the Rules that the Air Force have in place... They have them for a reason.... But if you'd like to find out why they have them then ignore the rules and get hurt or maybe killed...

The Air Force also has training for combat situations... It's not as in depth as some of the other branches but trust me they can do just fine...

After being married to a soldier and stationed with the Air Force I would say that Air Force is an all around better deal. They seem to treat their people better.

Air Force treats their people best...the other branches even agree on that.

Kystina's absolutely right too, so I'm not sure why she's been downvoted. That's one thing they drove into us over and over....we're professionals first. Army (and other branches perhaps) are opposite....you're a soldier first. That's what I admire most about the Air Force and that's what makes me proud to serve.

Yes, it's a great choice.

I'd say the same thing if you replaced Air Force with Army, Navy, Marines, or Coast Guard in you question.

dont join the air force becuase you are concerned about safety, lots of men did the tough thing in life so you could enjoy freedom, who the hell are we to run to safety and let others die so we can continue enjoying america?
I was army, did a year in iraq, almost died a few times but I made it back just fine.

my boyfriend is currently in the air force and he loves it. you will have to deal with being away from you family 98% of the time. and when they say that you dont go overseas, you do. he is currently over in Qatar working 12-14 hour days 7 days a week with no days off. its alot of work and you have to be determined. from what i hear its very hard to get into.

go see a recuiter. most towns have an office clsoe by.
good luck with you decision, and make sure you put alot of thought into it. <3
