I feel discriminated against. When 99% of the people around you look at you like your the anticrist. Its especially bad when you get ridiculed because you dont believe in the same all knowing, invisible, all powerful, creator of everything, diety as they do.

I live in a liberal urban area of California. I have NO hesitation about making it known to anyone who wants to know that I am a pagan and a Witch. I wear my pentagram and a Spiral Goddess around my neck every day. I drive a hybrid car with a bumper sticker that says "Goddess Bless" and if anyone starts talking about God, I bring the Goddess into the conversation just as matter-of-fact way as can be.
I know, living where I do, it's easy for me. Actually, it took me awhile, because even here, some people don't take me seriously when I start talking about paganism or, even more so, Witchcraft. But many are very curious about it and ask me questions that I am happy to answer.
I teach ESL at a small adult school, and I tell my students about my beliefs when the situation arises and the topic is appropriate. They get a good education from me!
Great question!

I pretty much stay in the Broom Closet! LOL. Mainly because I live in a small Texas town that has a Christian church on every other corner. When I was in New Mexico and California I felt comfortable wearing my pentacle. In some areas of the country if you are not a fundamentalist Christian you are certainly discriminated against. It would not matter if you were a witch or Jewish or Muslim or atheist. All are the same in the minds of the people here. Al in league with Satan! Simply put if you do not worship Jesus you are a bad person!

My mother knows my faith, I don't really hide my faith, more like I feel that faith is not to be advertised, if someone were to ask my faith I would answer truthfully but I don't feel the need to scream to the world of my faith. I don't want to judged based on my faith, rather on my actions. Like a few already mention I too live in the Bible Belt, and the Christians have been brainwashed to believe any that are not Christian are evil whether Pagan, Muslim or any other faith. Others may feel the need to yell atop the mountain, I commend them on their bravery. I'd rather them get all the attention, while I live my life worshiping the God and the Goddess in peace, because in the end that is what really matters. Blessed Be y'all!

I can certainly understand why Pagans don't advertise their beliefs. I'm an atheist working amongst some very vocal Fundamentalist Christians who do NOT tolerate differing beliefs. For that reason, I keep my atheism to myself in the workplace...not because I am insecure or ashamed, but because I don't want to be harassed by my co-workers. I keep my religion, political beliefs, sexual orientation (I'm a bi swinger), etc., to myself in the workplace. (Sometimes I wish my co-workers would do the same...)

I do get discriminated/laugh off/ignore or ridiculed when I speak my beliefs.
Funny thing is, I am tolerate of others beliefs - not that I agree with them, but it's their choice to belief in religion and I have my spirituality.
Some of my family on my fathers side do not speak to me as they are very extremely religious and my beliefs in my spirituality as viewed as evil to them, therefore they do not speak to me or acknowledge me. I'm ok with this as I cannot pretend to be something I'm not.

I have no problems living openly.
My kids go to public school and wear their Hammers, and t-shirts that proclaim them as American Asatruar.

Never in front of my mom and mostly online. I live in a conservative bible belt town, so I have to be careful.
