We can't just pack up and leave. We are doing more good over there than what people hear about on the news. I don't think we will ever be out of there completely. That is unless we get the Iraqi military completely trained. The only problem is they are still relying on us too much. I could see us having a base over there to help keep the peace in the future.

I think that we are not accomplishing anything there except wasting lives and money -- and prolonging an internal conflict that is going to continue whether we're there or not.
The US presence in Iraq is not making the country more stable -- as every independent report has shows -- and it certainly isn't prompting the Iraqi govt to start taking over its own affairs.
In other words -- we're just enablers -- we're just dragging the problem out without making it any better -- and imposing a huge cost in lives and resources on the US in the process.
And regardless of how long we stay -- we get no benefit out of it. Hence, from a business perspective, we're spending resources with no gain -- a lose-lose proposition.

Yes us should.
We are keeping the civil war in Iraq from resolving.
It is time that the US steps out, and allow the UN Peacekeeping forces take over.

Brian C said it right. It's not the popular opinion, but it's the right one. And by the way, please don't write "US" in small case letters, even if unintentional, it's disrespectful to the citizens of this, the greatest Nation on God's green earth.

Why leave now when we would just have to go back in the future? When we did go back we would have to work to fix all the new problems.

We basically are, my friend who is over there, says most the troops are on 'SEARCH AND AVOID' patrols, they go out, find someplace safe, and radio in every hour about looking for Insurgents, when really they are just drinking beer in some parking lot. Basically we just bombing from super high and almost always missing insurgents and killing civillians ticking everyone off even more.
