Its lick, drink, suck. (salt, tequila, lime.) I've never done that with anything other then tequila.
While I've never had normal soco, I drink soco 100 all the time. (100 proof instead of 80) I find it tastes like apples, so I'm not sure why you'd need "training wheels" inorder to drink it. If you can't seem to handle it, try a chaser. Many people use beer as a chaser, I'd start experimenting until you find something that works.

I'm a bartender, and the best way to do that shot would be chill the shot of soco with lil lime juice in a shaker and thats called a soco and lime shot

when i bartend, we chill the soco in a shaker with sweetened lime juice (roses brand) and serve as a shot. just add a one count of lime juice per 3 count of soco.
