I'm beginning to warm up to them.

At least the COT's are starting to look a little more like their street counterparts, instead of looking like a UMP Dirt Late Model with the wedge noses they are running.

Then, there's the safety factor. The COT's are so much safer.

Charlie, that's an interesting insight. I always thought they tried to keep the NNC cars as straight as possible to insure consistant handling, instead of letting the chassis flex, and allow the car to be incosistant. I've seen a lot of late models that were tweeked so bad they crabbed down the straights, and couldn't run the same line around the track twice, even if they WERE on rails.

As with anything new there is an adjustment period. For the C O T we are attempting to get use to the looks and the bulky looks. We hear the drivers talk about the way it handles or the little qurks it has so we the fan jump on the we do not like it.
Personnally I think it is going a step in the right direction, safer more competitive car.The overall looks is something like the large full body cars of the 60's and 70's.The hansling is like those cars also and most of the drivers are not familiar with these types of handling problems so there will be negative feelings for it.
But I like it for the future.

I've heard a lot of talk about the twisted sister car, or the Car of Yesterday. If the car doesn't drive right, just twist the frame more, move the body frame or bend the body so the car drives better.

At least the COT can't be bent around, and give the race back to the driver and not just a comfortable car that is designed for a specific track or group of tracks. Only special modification from track to track is the reversed gas tank for the Glenn.

They are winning me over, but it doesn't matter because they're here to stay and the Busch series will be using almost the same thing in a few years. The cars have proven to be pretty tough. I'm thinking next year we'll see better races as all the teams get up to speed with the car and everyone closes in on the teams with a head start. I can live with the rear wings except on the restrictor plate tracks, but I hate the front ends.

...I am open to explore the positive things associated with the car as far as safety goes. I don't like it that Nascar is constantly changing things up.

...I hope they will quit making changes to the cars so all teams can come to the same level of competitiveness and provide the fans a better race instead of a select few teams dominating the year.

...It just seems like the teams with the least amount of money can't even compete any more.

They are safer which is great, but to me it's like watching a IROC race. Don't like the wing on the back and the car is taken out of the teams hands to do some real engineering. But I guess it's here to stay, so race on.

I'm beginning to come around on them, I use to hate them..but I keep telling myself they are safer..I just wish they'd get all the rules, spec's, changes over with them before Speed Weeks in Daytona in 2008..Eventually, I'll stop calling them the Crap of Tomorrow. We have seen some good racing in them. HMS seems to have it together with the COT...so I guess that means Jr will be fine next yr...

Go Dale Jr & HMS in 2008

I support anything that will make it safer for the driver to go faster. Looks, color, emotions can't play a part. The driver has to be safe, I'm so tired of losing drivers to injury.
