I believe in a higher power because I have encountered it and felt its presence. That might be explained by certain aspects of brain function, but I've chosen to live a theistic life nevertheless.
As far as I am concerned, history teaches us that different cultures have different religions and spiritual systems, and I believe that all of them probably lead to the same place. All religions are correct to their adherents and God (if God exists) is far too big to fit inside one religion. I also believe that atheism and agnosticism are honorable perspectives on the mysteries of the universe. Therefore I feel no need to prosyletize and am perfectly content to watch other people to follow their paths without interfering, so long as they do not try to prevent me from following mine or spread lies about my faith.

I don't believe in a higher power because I KNOW that the religious figures are simply a mechanism to control relatively bad people, which most people are, and pretty stupid, so there can be some sort of order amongst the masses. It's all a brain wash. That is why I do not believe in a higher power. on top of it, the people who wrote these stories of "higher" powers were completely stupid. their education level was so low, I'd trust what my pet mouse would say over them.

It is easier to believe in a Higher Power than not to believe in a Higher Power.

The higher power should be you.....there is no higher power to take care of you and save you from the "world". People need hope so many do not want to accept that mankind is alone so they look for help in a "higher power".

I guess it all comes down to faith, really.
As far as what I think of others, it really depends. If they follow another religion/worship a different god, I guess I feel kind of sad for them, but respect their right to do so. There are two kinds of people who don't believe at all. The first is the kind that fundamentally just doesn't believe but is open to other points of view. They at least seem pretty happy in their unbelief, so I just feel like they're missing out on something wonderful. Then there's the ones that seem to be angry all the time about religion, call believers stupid, etc. I just get tired of it.

I don't believe in a higher power in the religious sense. People are free to believe (or not) what they want.

I believe in a higher power. I also believe in the evil power that is the higher power's enemy. Both powers effect all of us.

Well, to answer your, people wonder "Why are we here?" then this leads to the Bible, God, and 'other' higher powers. Where would we be without a higher power? I'll tell you: nowhere
Bye!

If by higher power you mean God; it's because it's very hard to believe that we exist by chance. that we are an accident in the universe. I believe that something more powerful than a lucky bacteria made us what we are today.

i do not believe in a higher power and i do not have any reason to do so. if u must u may believe in a higher power but i think everything shood have reason and be backed by science. u may have "faith" but only faith in something someone may up a long time ago. therefore u have faith in imagination and u will only except someones theory as the only possibilty.
