If a war happen between US and Iran then it will be an air war only no ground invasion.

We would so kick their a** in an all out war. It's during the aftermath/reconstruction/long term that we have our problems.

The questions are.... Can we do this while Iraq and Afghanistan are still happening? (My opinion - doubtful). Can we afford it as a nation? (My opinion - probably, but it would suck).

But I don't think we'll reinstate a draft. By the time a draft had enough Soldiers ready, the war would be long over. You can't say, "we're gonna start our draft and will kick your a** 12 to 18 months from now."

The only problem with the logic of waiting till Bush gets out of office is that the 'red line' will have already been crossed, ie, Iran will have completed its certrifuging building by this year, and will have enough enriched uranium by the end of 2008 to build nukes. By 2010 or 11, a delivery devices will have been built (by current predictions of the experts). The key red line dates are critical in impeding Iran's progression in the nuclear programme...all within Bush's tenure....true story.

Whether we have a draft or not is very likely, in view of the strained manpower maintaining our current operations.....

Do you have any idea what you are contemplating? We are the only country that can really be the leading power in the world. If sabre-rattlers like you proceed we could wind up effectively out-of-business, international leadership-wise.

Additionally we would have a 20 year nightmare to endure, trying to conquer three countries in a row. Crazy.

If anything happens in Iran it needs to be Israeli style: fly in, destroy the nuclear facilities, fly away. Even that would be, and would be viewed as, a defeat of the use of power.

We would need a draft.

The military is already over-extended with over half of all active duty personnel either getting ready for deployment to Iraq, in Iraq, or recovering from being in Iraq.

We would need to increase the size of our military by +50% to equal the deployment against Iran -- which has ten times the military resources as Iraq.

And the only way to get that much of an increase is a draft.

Its just a rouse. With China & India being the next Gen Gobblers of Natural Resources, we are making the last cash-in b4 turning it over.

no war in Iran. Don't worry it's all just to keep oil prices sky high. I know people say only refiners are making money of high oil but oil companies own most refineries.

It depends, if we declared total war or if it was like Iraq. I say we just bomb the hell out of them and let Israel loose and let them do there thing, with Israel in there and our Air Force and Navy shelling Tehran to hell, they won't last.

But, of course, that's not how it will happen. The government will be too worried about civilian casualties of the country trying to destroy us to fight a real war like there used to be fought;.

I do not think that this will be the case, Bush and his little Rice/ Dick is almost out of office, "Thank god" and the next president is going to want to get reelected.
