We are told in Matthew Jesus will be called Emmanuel. Which means God with us. So Jesus is God with us. Seems to me that this means Jesus is God.
Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Moises_Frias - So you are saying the Bible is wrong? Weren't you the one who said that maybe some things about Him were left out? Like when He corrected Thomas for calling Him God? Which is it is everything in there or not? How do you know He was not often called Emmanuel?

Moises_Frias - Actually that angel worships the one who liveth forever and who created everything. I think we established earlier Jesus created everything. So the angel was worshiping himself?

No. The important thing is that this name had meaning, and Jesus fulfilled that meaning. He was Jehovah’s Representative, Jehovah’s Anointed One, the Christ or Messiah. In sending the Messiah to the Jews God showed that he was with them, not against them. He continued with the faithful Jewish remnant that accepted Jesus the Messiah, and he is with those who accept Christ the enthroned King at this time.
Other names were foretold for the Messiah. For example, Isaiah 9:6 states concerning him: “His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Yet all of these names were not used toward Jesus as personal names by which to call him. He lived up to the meaning of these names, and that is the sense in which they were prophetically given, to show his qualities and the good offices he would perform for the obedient ones. So with the name Immanuel. He measured up to its meaning and thus fulfilled the prophecy assigning it to the Messiah, even though Jesus and not Immanuel was used as his personal name, which also was very meaningful. Matt. 1:21.
Jesus did not claim to be God. At John 17:3, he called his Father the only true God.

then why Jesus didn´t received the name of emmanuel?
why we call him Jesus instead of Emmanuel?
Zechariah was Jehovah according to your reasoning.
EDGE: Jehovah sent his firstson to earth that son is called Michael his chief angel that is why the bible describe him as a powerful angel in Revelation 10:1? have you ever read that verse until verse 3 to see how that angel match in every single detail with Jesus?
cause the more than the hundred seventy time the bible call him Jesus Christ, never ever used emmanuel.
I know he is emmanuel but that doesn´t mean that he is Jehovah.
Exodus 23:20 "“Here I am sending an angel ahead of you to keep you on the road and to bring you into the place that I have prepared.
21 Watch yourself because of him and obey his voice. Do not behave rebelliously against him, for he will not pardon YOUR transgression; because my name is within him.
22 However, if you strictly obey his voice and really do all that I shall speak, then I shall certainly be hostile to your enemies and harass those who harass you.
Who is this angel that have the name of Jehovah in him' meaning that was God almighty´s representative?
read it carefully my friend read it carefully OK LET READ TOGETHER
Revelation 10:1-3 "And I saw another strong angel descending from heaven, arrayed with a cloud, and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as the sun, and his feet were as fiery pillars,
2 and he had in his hand a little scroll opened. And he set his right foot upon the sea, but his left one upon the earth,
3 and he cried out with a loud voice just as when a lion roars. And when he cried out, the seven thunders uttered their own voices
"And I saw another strong angel descending from heaven" compare that with Daniel 10:1 , Judas 9 and Revelation 12:7.
"arrayed with a cloud" compare with Daniel 7:13 and Revelation 1:7
"And he set his right foot upon the sea, but his left one upon the earth, " compare it with Hebrew 2:8.
according to Jesus his father Jehovah is the creator he was his helper.

Read the book of Revelations, chapter 5. The heavenly hosts and angels were praising and WORSHIPING Jesus. If He is not God, how could He be worshiped? Wouldn't that have been idolatry right in God's face?

No.
Would the questioner pretend that the third son of Isaiah was also Almighty God?
(Isaiah 7:14-15) Jehovah himself will give you men a sign: Look! The maiden herself will actually become pregnant, and she is giving birth to a son, and she will certainly call his name Immanuel. Butter and honey he will eat by the time that he knows how to reject the bad and choose the good.

Problem is he wasn't called "Emmanuel". What a blunder. It was easy to ride into town on a donkey, not so easy to change his name to what it was supposed to be.
btw, "virgin" means young woman, ask the Jews and see what they say it means.

His name was Joshua and if I legally make my name Emmnauel or choose it for a new born ,no , it doesn't mean that i'm god or my newborn is god. That would be called fallacious thinking .
