Yes, pleasantly so. It's about time us, atheists, stood up and were counted.

Yes, I was, and still am surprised. If at least of the atheists were to explain their point of view, with out bashing God, the bible, or Christians, maybe I could accept more atheists.
But the trash I see here by amoral, childish questions, and disrespect for others views really is painful. It reminds me of the corrupt children in the seventh and eighth grades of our middle schools, shouting out because they want to be recognized, even if they embarrass themselves.

This doesn't happen anywhere else on Yahoo answers, just here. It really is too bad, because I do see sincere people wanting advice and good answers here. And I do see patient people trying to help, and we should respect thoughtful answers. Some people just hate life and must make a bad scene any where they can.

I really hope that Yahoo Answers would create a new place for atheist sound off.

Yes, I was very surprised. And happy. Now I can listen to what people other than the catholics around here are saying. And I've got Christians in Kentucky, so I have to listen to them for part of the year, more if the kids and I move down there. I don't know what I'll do then.

Yes, at first I was surprised, but I became even more surprised and saddened by the hostility and rudeness between Atheists and Christians and Christians towards other Christians. I was appalled at that.

I know that communicating via computer gives us anonymity and even power to say whatever we want to say without thinking that we may be hurting somebodies feelings and words do hurt. The first time I got a thumbs down I felt hurt, but as in life I learned to let it just run off my back.

I've said in many of my posts that I don't hate anybody.
So ((((((((hugs to everybody!)))))))

I was very very surprised. I had never been exposed to Atheists, Wiccans/Witches, Agnostics etc. before that. At first I was really wary but over time I grew to really like and admire most of them and want to learn more about their lifestyle. It's opened up a 'whole new world' to me and made me truly grow as as an individual.

Yes, I was.
I wish that there was a Christian only site, where we could have serious discussion without being subject to ridicule and mocking as it never leads to any good discussions, just defensive immature answers.
Also, a site for others religions would be great including one for Atheists only so if one wants to learn anything, they could be teaching sites by reading each others thoughts and contributions.
Wish the mockers would go away as I think they disrupt people who want to think and learn!

I actually found that there was maybe one atheist. The rest were sceptics, heretics or fallen away. I think I asked one question regarding it, and received a very gracious reply from one, which I remember fondly, however I can't tell you exactly what he said because my memory is bad.

But I wasn't surprised. I like all kinds of views, so it was nice. I can't say everything I want to say though, because of it.

Not at all, being a Yahoo messenger veteran who was part of the 'Evolution Is A Fact' rooms in the good old days.

The Christians followed us everywhere, and a few Islamic creationists, but atheists arrived in battalions.

Considering the hateful questions that made me look here in the first place, no. Not surprised that others came to defend this side too.

nope I'm not surprised, but I am surprised that some atheists often makes jokes and which are pretty good but I'm surprise that some of those were rude. I though atheists are umm moral in no religious way... well who can blame em even religious people are not moral so why not them also. LOL

Yes and No!

I am surprised that there are so many who do not believe. Common sense folk ... you think that all of this just happened on it's own??? Dumb luck???

Highly unlikely, IMHO!

There has to be one who is greater than the whole, by whatever name you choose to call Him, Her, Them.

Are we as Human-Being truly so stupid?

For most, I think not.
