You know, white or brown, turbinado... People eat a lot of sugar, but I wanted to know if the body ever uses it, or if it is simply a toxin (which I know it is in large amounts). Is sugar a toxin in small amounts, too?

the body never needs dietary sugar in the form of sucrose, fructose, galactose, etc...

the body stores excess blood sugar (glucose) in the liver as glycogen and in skeletal muscle as glycogen. when needed the body will drawl upon these stores, it is their purpose and sole function.

in some ways sugar is toxic to the body of the sedentary individual that follows a poor diet. high fructose corn syrup while made from mostly natural ingredients has nothing but a negative effect on the endocrine system and health in general.

Yes, it does need sugar, but not necessarily table sugar or sweets. Nearly all foods contain some form of sugar (certain foods, like fruit, contain more than others), which the body uses for energy. You can have serious, possibly even fatal, problems if your body gets no sugar at all.

sugar, or glucose, comes from everything you eat, not just pure sugar. when you eat a piece of bread, your body basically turns it into sugar and uses the energy to run ur body

Yea it needs sugar, its just that when you take to much something (i can't remember it...) in your body literally overflows and it stores it up as fat or something like that... Sugar is something needed for a "kick" of engery, but us Americans like with everything else always take more than we need.
