LOL. No. But I'm gay, and an atheist. I certainly disagree with the "Christian" attitude towards sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular. I've practiced Buddhist and Hindu meditation techniques, though - Buddhism being an atheistic religion - and I've studied comparative religion. I've always been fascinated by religious questions. It's definitely completely untrue to say I "fear" religion.

I will say that as a gay person raised in a Christian tradition that condemns homosexuality, you're faced with the choice to either internalize that condemnation, and spend your life hating and denying yourself, or to rebel against it. I think many gay people settle into a sort of compromise with their Christianity in which they continue to go to church and think of themselves as religious in the ordinary way, and simply disregard the anti-gay elements when and if they come up.

No. They fear the inevitable judgment to which the religious people will subject them. Wouldn't you? There you are, just trying to live your life and be a good person, loving the person that you fell in love with, and people who claim to be religious and loving and Christ-like start to tell you how wrong you are for simply being who you were made to be, and tell you that you will go to hell. No, gay people don't fear religion...if anything, it's religion that fears gay people.

Can't speak for everyone, but personally I find it fascinating.

I sometimes find it a bit scary when people use it as a switch to shut off reason or compassion, though. People who lose the capacity for reason and compassion sometimes do very scary things. But I suspect if those people didn't have religion they'd probably find something other rationale - religious craziness is just one form of generalised human craziness.

I would think that more religious people fear gays than the other way around.

Wicca has entire denominations devoted to LGBT members, so no, I don't think that gay people "fear" our religion, nor do they have any reason to. We generally accept homosexuality as a naturally occurring orientation, and accept all acts of love and pleasure, with harm to none, as valid and potentially sacred.

I think some of them do, ecspecially if their parents are in a religion that does not accept homosexuality.

What they need to fear is God. Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
