"I'm not trying to work at overcoming negativity" = is in itself a negative statement and proves - on the surface at least - that yes, perhaps you DO need to work at it!

You need to start reading books with a positive message. Put more positive in and there is less room for negative. Don't watch the nightly news.

Have you tried using thought-stopping techniques? You can try putting a rubber band around your wrist and everytime you feel negative snap it hard, then think of something positive.

it's nothing to do with religion or spirituality, it's physics. One action leads to multi out come in future. All are neither good or bad, it's the eye of the beholder who considers them to be.
