Yes you can do it.You will want to get a manual from autozone or oreillys and it wouldnt hurt to find somebody to help you lower the tank.

These are not easy with all shop tools and a hoist. You have to lift the truck high enough to be able to drag the whole fuel tank from underneath the truck. If it's full of gas or even half full, you will want to syphon out as much gas as you can as this is very heavy. There is not too much to remove, gravel guards, driveshaft, and fuel tank straps. The problem comes in when you attempt to remove the quick connects to the fuel sender as the tools usually break or don't work due to lack of room to get into the area. I usually ended up breaking the fuel sender which is basically what you have to replace anyways.

You need to take the vehicle to someone who is familiar with the vehicle and find the problem and fix it rather than making a lot of expensive guesses. The fuel pump module is in the fuel tank and cost about $500.00 maybe more.

You'll need to drop the fuel tank. If the tank is full it will be very difficult to handle and dangerous. You should have a transfer pump and storage tank to drain the tank. It's really not recommended for DIY repair.

Most fuel pumps require the fuel tank to be removed.
Are you comfortable doing this?
If you are not experiance mechanic, I would say leave it to the professionals.

NOT REALLY...........................
BUT IF YOU DO TRY TO START ON A FRIDAY AND HOPEFULLY YOU WILL HAVE IT DONE BY SUNDAY AND IF NOT HAVE A SPARE VEHICLE TO DRIVE.
THIS IS NOT AN EASY JOB TO DO, BESIDES REMOVING THE COMPLETE GAS TANK YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE SOME OF THE FUEL IF IT IS FULL, VERY DANGEROUS.

oh yes, it is not simple for the novice shade tree mechanic, but i tell you what. grab a haynes manual at a major auto parts store and it will walk you step by step on how to do such a task on your vehicle. it really is something you can do in your drive way in under 3 hours.
