I want to change last name back to what it should be...the name I was born with, the same as my bio-mom's. Can an adoptee do that? How?

Yes you can change your name if you're over 18. Go to the
county clerks office. They have a set of papers you need to fill
out. Also, request a fee waiver to waive court costs. The clerk will file your papers, you may have to advertise the name change in your local news paper, then you'll get a court date. Certian people are exempt from publishing a name change. The County Clerk can give you that info.
My date is in Jan. 08' new year, old name. Good Luck

If you are 18 or over it is pretty simple. Go to the local courthouse, put in a petition, pay a fee, usually the request is granted, you have to publish it in any local paper for a relatively small fee, then you start changing your name on all your important documents---that is more of a pain than changing the name. Plan to spend a little less than $100, give or take, depending on your location.

If your at least 18 you can just go to the courts and have it legally changed. Anyone can do that, legally change their name, first, last or even middle.

If you are 18 then you can have a lawyer to petition the courts for you to change your name. It could be very expensive, it could also be cheaper.
