Focus and motive are the keys to a short shower.
I find that if I'm taking a shower first thing in the morning, then I'm using it to wake up. These are the longest showers. Sometimes over 30 minutes.
If I'm taking a shower after a work out, then I'm very awake and use to moving. The showers tend to be quick. We're talking under 10 minutes.
If I have just 10 minutes to get from PJ's to dressed and need that shower too... (e.g. going out without much notice)... then I can take that shower in just a few minutes.

I think it's just a matter of how much soap your're using.
Plus, I think it's also quite difficult, your're the same as me I can't seem to shower under 10 minutes ( I even try!).
I think it's just that you want to get clean, so you shower longer. It's just a thing a human naturally does, don't worry I'm the same way. Maybe you could try showering under 10 minutes and if you still smell or what ever, get an extra 5 minutes in.
Good luck!

I used to take one-hour showers! I'm seriously serious. Until I went to a three-week residential summer program (Johns Hopkins CTY<3), I never got into the habit of taking shorter showers. Time just seems absent in the shower, you know? At the summer camp, I had to take quick, simple showers, and from then on, my showers have been relatively short.
I take about 30 minutes if I shave, and if I don't for that day, it's about 20.
I find it hard to believe that environmentalists and all that want us to reduce our "10-minute showers" to 5 minutes. Oh, please. @_@

I live in South Australian and here the water situation is dire. We are no longer allowed to use sprinklers or watering systems outside and we are all encourage to reduce our water consumption within the house. My showers are always UNDER 10 minutes. I am female and have long hair but its not hard! My routine is to hop in, as soon as my hair is wet I shampoo, rinse and stick in conditioner. While conditioner is in my hair I usually give my legs a quick shave and brush my teeth. As soon as I start rinsing my hair I squirt some body wash on the loofah and quickly scrub all over. One good way I get my partners daughter to keep her showers quick is to turn on the shower radio and tell her that she needs to be out after 2 songs. It's really not that hard to keep shower times down and besides reducing water bills you will also be helping the environment!

I prefer long showers, but i never have time before school, so they usually end up a lot shorter than i would like them to be. It also depends on the temperature of the water, if the water is too hot or too cold my shower will be shorter. But when i find a good temperature i will stay in the shower forever!

I have never had a 10 min shower in my life! Even when I wash my hair it has never taken me more than 6 mins. Maybe growing up in the country where the water is very precious and every drop counts, and sometimes a bath with very little water in it gets shared by all family, the cleanest in first, makes you very aware of how precious it really is. Try living in the country with very little or no water, maybe you will think different then.

It's not just you! I cannot take a 5 minute shower like my friends, but a half an hour shower is just a bit too long. 20 minute showers are the average for me. -Banana

Wow I am with you on that one.
I cannot take a shower under 15 minutes.
It takes me so long. And even if its long it feels short.
I could stand in there forever.
Its lovely and helps me relieve stress.
Its great.
Personally I don't mind its worth the money for the hot water.
