Okay, I am wanting to get a sleeve on my left arm, i already habe two red butterflys on my inner forearms, that look like they are melting/bleeding down it. I dont know If i should try and figure out some kind of theme to finish the arm off with? or should I just keep getting little random ones that mean something to me? and just wait for it to turn into a sleeve?

Nat k, I hope that if you find something you enjoy, and think looks good, but NO one else agrees, that you will grow some balls and do it anyways. If you allow people to hold you down, how are you ever going to live a happy life? Peace and love. : )

Firstly, thumbs up for your comment to Nat K.

I think sleeves are a big deal and to me, it's important that they make some kind of sense.

Lots of little random things can work well together, but I think the idea would be to collect all of those things at once and arrange them into a design that works overall, rather than popping the designs in one at a time and crossing your fingers for something that'll be aesthetically sound.

As for keeping with the theme, well I think your bleeding/melting butterflies are a great idea and I'm sure look fantastic on your arm. What exactly would you do to keep the theme? Would you add in some vines and leave and more butterflies??

E.g. It could be a good idea to turn each leaf into something important to you so that visually it all looks like a theme, but then each little bit has its own story..

Hope that helps and makes sense!!!

It's funny you ask that question! I know some folks with full 'theme' sleeves and some folks with sleeves full of random little things, and both those groups feel that their type of sleeve is the best, so yeah, I see your frustration! I like the idea of random things, kind of like a charm bracelet or necklace, but I say, go with what feels right for you!

i prefer cohesive sleeves. not that i think they all have to be one tattoo with one central theme but sleeves that "go". i hate random pieced together stuff, it just looks cheap, even if it wasn't. having gone to a tattoo convention this weekend and there were some awesome cohesive sleeves and also some very blaah ones.
wait until you have the perfect idea so there will be no regrets.

with random little ones you could little stories about each of them and the arm will look more interesting.
with ones of the continuos theme, the whole arm will fit 2gether better but it won't nessacarily be so meaningful 2 u!!

BUT U R THE ONE WHO HAS 2 LIVE WITH THE TATOO...SO U MAKE THE DESICION!!! =]
