There's such a negative association with the act. I just don't get it. What are your thoughts on the matter?

Perhaps we can leave the atrocities committed by a small percentage of the church out of our answers, yes?

This isn't the 60's anymore where nuns tell you that masturbation will inevitably lead to blindness. There is nothing wrong with masturbation, at ALL, it's simply an uncomfortable subject of conversation for most--especially since it focuses more on the act itself than sex between two people does. Sex generally infers more than the act of genitalia coming in contact with each other--it relates to an exchange of touch as a result of emotions (usually). Masturbation is a purely physical act of sex with oneself, and brings more attention to the genitals, in my opinion.

Additionally, it is sometimes seen as shameful to have a need to masturbate, rather than being able to acquire a partner for actual sex, and is therefore seen in a more negative light.

In reality, masturbation is a way to further your relationship with yourself and will often help your sex life. It is a comfortable, private and safe way to obtain pleasure, and should not be condemned--mainly because it's really nobody's business but your own.

Masturbation done right can prevent STD and a healthy marriage. Its okay as a form of release but not as a substitution. What do Christians know, Christ never had sex and Mohamad married a 9 year old girl among many other. You masterbating is probably the norm and more beautiful in life than anyother thing except making love to a girl. I said making love not sex. Because love is whats missing.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it, for one thing it eliminates the possibility of pregnancy and std's. But I don't see any harm in it, an dwhat you do in your own home is your business.

God gave us the powers of procreation, and He has commanded us to use them only between legally married husband and wife. Any other use of these powers is inappropriate and goes against the commandment of God.

Not a problem, everyone does it, just don't allude to it and of course, do it in private!
