there are many type of relationship between man and woman: penpal, friend, friendship, marrige,what is the difference between these idioms?

A pen-pal is someone that you never meet, but you write letters to and share what is new in your life. It can be a man or woman.

pen-pal means you write letters, like on paper and put them in an envelope.....its usually like in grade school and someone from a different country,,,if it's an adult i would have to say "there in prison"...
