Yes, but don't overdo it; remember etiquette is supposed to make life more pleasant, not more difficult. Besides rushing past a woman or holding it when you are carrying so much stuff that you're half-blocking the doorway just makes you look silly!
I knew one guy who would always insist on opening the door for me even if he was a bit behind me, rushing past me to get there. And if he had his hands full he'd still get in front of me and struggle with the door. I don't get mad when a guy holds the door for me but if I'm quite a bit in front, or if I have my hands free and he doesn't, then I'll hold it for him. Just makes more sense that way.

Not long ago a little boy around 4 or 5 opened the door for me. I smiled and said thank you. He was so pleased with himself. As a woman I have also arrived at a door first and held it open for the guy behind me. It is courtesy either way.

yes its a nice thing to do. last year on a local radio station one of the morning show guys said that he held a door open for a woman and she was MAD and really ANGRY. She made some remark like "what because i'm a woman i can't open the door myself?

I like it when guys do it for me, I just feel weird if I go to grab it, and so do they.. because not all guys do it and when the guys that have done it for me, never say anything like "here i'll get this for you". They just do it and i'm like ...woah okay then...
And then it makes me feel awkward.

Yes. People who say you're being chauvanist and demeaning are just plain rude - you're putting yourself out for them; you're not saying they're incapable of opening it themselves.
