Jesus said, "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves” (Matthew 7:15).

The Bible also tells us, "when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him."

Basically, the Bible it telling us that if someone prophesies something, and it does not happen, then that person is a false prophet.

Hal Lindsey in the 1970's predicted that the "Rapture" would happen by 1988. In the doctrine he teaches about the "Rapture", the righteous will be taken away from the Earth and the evil will be "left behind".

1988 has since come and gone, and the last info I heard, Hal Lindsey is still with us.

This leaves only two possibilities.

1. Hal Lindsey spoke presumptuously. If this is the case, he is a false prophet, and we should not listen to him...

OR

2. The rapture happened like he predicted and he was "left behind". If this happened, he must not have been a servant of God since he was left behind. Since he was in the category of the evil, we should not trust his writings (at least those up to that point)!

No matter which of the above is true, Hal Lindsey is not one who deserves our trust and loyalty!

At least one of those options must be true. (I can't think of any other options.)

Instead of following Hal Lindsey, we should trust the Lord, and follow His Word, the Bible!

No, you follow Jesus....

I have no idea what you meant by your question, but I can tell you one thing...Hal Lindsey and his book, "The Late, Great, Planet Earth"...may just be the reason I am saved today..I was reading it at the same time I was beginning to read the bible....in the back,,is a little form,,that tells you how be saved,,,how to pray for salvation,,,,and a place to sign your name,,if you prayed the prayer....I did fill that out and sign it....it was my first commitment to follow Jesus...

So, I have only wonderful feelings for Hal Lindsey...he has written some great books.

Hal Lindsey is a proven false prophet, like so many others of his kind.

He has been predicting the imminent end of the age for decades, and has been wrong for decades.

He has been reporting "signs" for decades, and yet there is still no definitive "sign" of the end.

He is also a Christian Zionist, so he suffers from all the baggage that goes along with that unwieldy and totally false proposition.

That said, I enjoy watching his show. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn, now and then.

If they did they'd be called Lindseyans.

If you want to be called a Christian, you should follow Jesus Christ.

In fact Hal Lindsey who appears weekly on his own TV show will tell you to follow Jesus Christ and not to follow him.

Hal Lindsey couldn't preach a single chapter of the Bible if his life depended on it lol. Notice how he skips around and quickly goes through each verse so you can barely catch what he said. He's trying to make the Bible fit into what he wants, rather than the other way around.

I don't like his style of preaching, and he's been wrong so many times he's completely discounted as a prophet

I am not so sure about his bible prophecy but one of the best Christian books I ever read in my life on salvation was his amazing grace (originally published as the liberation of the planet earth).

I have used the concepts so beautiful presented in the book many times over the last 20 years in trying to better explain the gospel to people,,,I learned so much from this book.

the five stars from all six reviewers show I am not alone in praising this book

Hal is a brilliant man. However, a farce as a Christian/prophet whatever.

May God have mercy on Him. As I see it, he is fleecing the flock and leading many astray.

heh. I like what my professor for the book of Revelation said. "If you want to make money off this book, don't take this class."

He's right...the more you actually KNOW about the book, the less you listen to those fanatics.

When's his next book out anyway and what is his next prediction for the end of the world date? Anyone know?
