When you say 'veil' do you mean the face covering? Most Muslim women do not cover their face so not covering the face is considered the norm and doing only that would not and is not considered disgraceful.
There are probably as many women who do not even cover their head as do cover their head and most people don't consider this disgraceful either just sad. We would prefer that our sisters in Islam cover the way Allah instructed His servants. We wish this for our sisters because we wish paradise for them.

It doesn't disgrace the religion, however it is mandatory to wear a veil. But, an inner faith is more important than an outer one, so it's better to improve one's soul rather than changing their way of dressing. And as soon as someone is ready to wear a veil, they will.

No, I don't wear it and I have never read or heard anything that implies that this ''disgraces religion.'' We as Muslims are not supposed to judge each other, or other people.

No. Many Muslim women choose not to wear hijab and for a variety of reasons. Countries that abuse women who do not cover are following culture and not Islam.

It is generally considered a disgrace @ the very least for a Muslim women not to veil. In some places it's illegal for a Muslim women or any woman in a Muslim dominated country to "show herself" publicly unveiled. She can be arrested, beaten, stoned, etc.

No, I don't think so. Muslims consider it a form of modesty to wear a veil.

No, the Noble Quran does not ask us to wear a veil only to cover our adornments. There are some Muslim scholars who claim otherwise but I follow my conscience and my sheik and his interpretation is a moderate one.
It is of course up to the individual which school of thought they choose to follow.
I live in Luxor Egypt and although there are many rural women who wear the veil, it is with them more of a cultural tradition.
I do wear the hijab ,headscarf, when I attend masjid, on special occasions or when we go to visit elderly relatives.
I also wear it when my work takes me into the rural areas, where I will be in contact with people whose beliefs are a little more rigid than my own.
I feel that I am just as worthy a Muslimah as one who wear the veil or completely covers every inch of exposed flesh.
I believe that the matter is between myself and Allah swt as He the only one who can judge me.
