i have quite a bad stammer in my speech?

would this hold me back from getting a girlfriend, i personaly think it does cause it does in everything else i do. would girls care? plz answer

i have a very handsome cousin that has a stuttering problem. it never stopped him from getting girls. he was always confident and the life of the party. he had lots of friends. his friends even nicknamed him Stutter box. hes younger than me and he was like the annoying lil brother type. i would tease him about stuttering, and he would say, "Chelsea, you dont understand. Since all of my uncles who used to stutter were happily married for many years, there must be girls out there who love a man whether or not he stutters! You can get help through www.stutteringhelp.org or http://stammeringcentre.org/. A very good book is "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" as it is what my relatives used. One who went to a speech therapist found that she used it in her sessions. You can get it at amazon.com or in the estore for The Stuttering Foundation.

Yes and no - your confidence would, this, probably not so much but it may.

Chances are, you may be self-conscience about it and are losing confidence points as a result - we all have a weakness, this is yours - understand that everyone DOES have a weak point, it just may not be so obvious.

ya...kinda happens to me sometimes.

if it's an actual speech inpediment, i'd recommend you see a therapist.

but if it's just a little, accidental one..the girl should dig you because she'll know that you care, right?
