Although i agree with many of you that many men have predicted the end of times and have fallen way short. There is too much evidence for this year of 2012 of being one of tremendous change. One cannot deny the fact that our earth, our sun, and the center of our universe will allign in that year. Now, im not saying that, that date will end it all what i am asking is does anyone have any more insight on this date?

2012 is the end of the current celestial age in the Mayan calendar, it has nothing to do with the world ending. Rather it is based on an arc of the wobble of the Earth per age.

The same thing occurs in the Greek system, dividing the wobble into 12 zodiacal signs suggesting that as the equinox/solstice occurs during different celestial skies different temporal ages occur.

It only means that the Mayans were very intelligent astronomers.

I have the Nostradamus book, he says something about the world ending in the year 7000, with the east taking over the west and destroying it! Its nothing to do with religion though.
Besides, I hope the world doesn't end in 2012 or all that olympics money would have been even more of a waste!

Oh yeah, and the bible does talk about the end of the world, two tramps will come and warn us, but nobody will listen. Then Jesus will come and he will have one thousand years to try and make us see sence, then it's judgement day. Its all in revelation.

we were talking about this is school. The Mayans were really advanced in astronomy and many people say that its something is going to happen astronomically. The scientist aren't sure when the calendar does end. They say i could have happend 1000 yrs ago or will happen in 1000 yrs or it is on dec. 23, 2012 . No one is for certain

There have been so many predictions on when the world is going to end - it's better just to live your life and not think about it

I'm so tired of saying that the fricken Mayan calendar is not ending...it is starting over, just like all calendars start over. Theirs was just really really long, hence the name the long count calendar.

Edit: and how is it religious propaganda? Religions are now using Mayan paganism for propaganda?

I just know that the bible is true and it does not say anything about any dates when Christ will return and also when Jesus returns the world will not end yet. There is many false prophets now and some even do miracles and deceive many from the truth

Religious propaganda & superstition--the end of the world has been predicted to end every generation for thousands of years--each predicted date has come & gone uneventfully.

The world isn't going to "end" in 2012. That is just a Mayan myth.

The future is what you make of it, it cannot be predicted. God want you to make your future better, and contribute to a better future for the world. Don't pay any attention to this stuff. Predictions of the end of times, have been predicted in every period in the past, and they have never come true.

Helga the witch will be elected 2008 and have water thrown on her in 2012 before she leaves office.

(By the way, if the Mayans are so smart, why aren't they still existing?)
