Yeah, but will they? Mexico has serious issues with its officer corps, but I'd wager an Invader would get his azz handed to them.
Frankly, it would be the height of stupidity for Cuba to invade Mexico. They would Immed. ask for OAS assistance, clearing the way for the USAF to reduce Cuban Military Bases to Bombing Ranges.
A USA/MEX force would be like the Indians on Custer to Fidel

Errr...it would be a horrible miscalculation and waste of assets for them.
Right now the U.S. is seen as an aggressor nation and enforcing this image is the way to gain friends in the world community. Any aggressive act on their part would turn Cuba into a regional pariah.
If Cuba really wants to increase their clout in Central America, they'd do it politically as they have done in Venezuela. Maintaining a military costs a nation a great deal of money....Subverting another nation politically by playing on anti-American sentiment is much cheaper.

Either way, the states would be there so fast to protect Mexico, as it is a major source of cheap labor for rich American companies and a partner in a massive free trade agreement.
Mexico could maybe take on Fidel alone, but they wouldn't have to. The U-S would declare Fidel a terrorist (might as well make a positive out of a negative) to further feed the fear machine of terrorism, take him out. And that is that.

They can just empty out their jails and prisons again, put em on boats, send em to Mexico to help destroy the country from within.
We make jokes about Mexico, but look how they handle their southern borders, they wont have much problem repelling an attack, they are doing it everyday. Just like us.

That depends on who is sitting in the Whitehouse. If a Democrat is in the oval office, America will side with the Cubans. If a Republican is in the oval office, America will side with Mexico.
