Some athletes have admitted using steroids, which are artificial hormones that can improve strength and muscle mass. Steroids are illegal and they can cause serious health problems, but studies still show some kids, teens, and adults are willing to try them. Let's talk about what steroids are, how they can affect your body, and why it's a good idea to avoid them.
When people say steroids (say: stare-oydz), they often mean illegal anabolic steroids. Anabolic steroids are artificially produced hormones that are the same as, or similar to, androgens, the male-type sex hormones in the body. The most powerful of these is testosterone (say: tes-tos-tuh-rone). Anabolic steroids can be taken in the form of pills, powders, or injections. Anabolic steroids are always illegal, meaning that you could get arrested for buying, selling, or taking them.
Some athletes take anabolic steroids because of their testosterone-like effects, such as increasing muscle mass and strength.

Steroids are drugs that help develp muscle. There are a lot of side y effects to steriods. They can make you feel good but if you are on steroids and get off them you will feel depressed and in some extreme situations some people will become suicidal. They have to be injected because if you take pills then your liver will filter the steroids out. Injecting delivers the drugs directly into your blood stream and gets to your muscles quicker. I would advise to not take steroids because of the health risk and they are also illegal.

A steroid is a terpenoid lipid characterized by a carbon skeleton with four fused rings, generally arranged in a 6-6-6-5 fashion.
Steroids vary by the functional groups attached to these rings and the oxidation state of the rings. Hundreds of distinct steroids are found in plants, animals, and fungi. All steroids are made in cells either from the sterol lanosterol (animals and fungi) or the sterol cycloartenol (plants). Both sterols are derived from the cyclization of the triterpene squalene.[1]

Hi Yatie S. Ok...Two classes of steroids: anabolic and catabolic. Our bodies naturally produce both kinds. These steroids are responsible for activating so many pathways in our bodies. Our immune system, sexual, and muscular systems respond to different steroids. While tester one drives a Male's sexual receptors to dominate, estrogen drives a fem ale's receptors to dominate. Then there are muscle receptors that respond to 'tailored' steroids; e.g. Terry Bonds. There are also naturally circulating ant-inflammatory corticosteroid's; e.g. hydro cortisone cream. They regulate on/off fight against infective organism's.
Sooooo...it is an organic compound naturally occurring or manufactured that has an genetic target tissue effect.
Have a safe journey!

Anabolic steroids, also known as anabolic-androgenic steroids or AAS, are a class of steroid hormones related to the hormone testosterone. They increase protein synthesis within cells, which results in the buildup of cellular tissue (anabolism), especially in muscles. Anabolic steroids also have androgenic and virilizing properties, including the development and maintenance of masculine characteristics such as the growth of the vocal cords and body hair

Steroid is a organic substance having the main molecule/chemical structure of cyclopentanoperhydrophenanthrene. It is the same molecule that constitute our hormones in the body, like estrogen, testosterone, and other gonodal hormones. Medicinally, it is also included in ointments and creams to facilitate rapid healing, for other medicines for asthma, etc. Steroids is also used for anabolic treatments to make muscles excrete neurotransmitter that can make the body physically enhanced for athletic purposes.
