TV: Does your TV have White and Red RCA jacks labeled L/R Out? If so, you run RCA cables from this to a spare input on your receiver.

If you are using a cable box/Sat receiver, these always have L/R audio outputs. Feed these into the receiver.

The PS2 - same thing. You need L/R audio cable and plug into a spare set of inputs.

Here is a problem. Some all-in-one home theater systems do not have a lot of jacks on the back for expandability. If you have one of these, you may not have any inputs to use.

Your question is too vague. When you say you bought a "home theater", what exactly do you mean? Are you saying you bought a home theater "In a box" package that includes the receiver, speakers and DVD player?

To get sound to work. You need to use the proper audio cables for your PS2 and plug them into an input labeled on the back of the receiver. The jack you plug into should be labeled (i.e. INPUT 1 or VIDEO 1). Then, just follow the manual for the receiver and switch to that input.
