Yup kind of. We became close just as high school was ending and started dating that summer. I know plenty of highschool sweethearts who got married. My parents!! 33 years and counting although they have been together for over 40 now, My bro in law - started dating in 10th grade, (married 5 yrs) and I have friends who have been married for 2 years and have been together since the 7th grade. I think they have been together for over 15 years now.

The thing is we all waited quite a few years to get married. We waited till after college and grew up a bit.

I'm going to marry my childhood sweetheart on 11-17-07. I'm 28 now, and I've known him since 3rd grade. We've always been friends. We've dated off and on since I was 16, and he was 15. He went on to have a child with someone else, and I did the same. We always knew of each other, even when we weren't hanging out. He's my cousin's best friend.

I took my son camping last year, and I ran into my honey there. He was having a guys only camping weekend, and they just happened to choose the same place that we have a permanent camping spot at.

He wasn't even going to give me his number! He thought I wouldn't call him. Well, I did. I thought we'd just kind of hang out like we used to. Over a year later.....

We're getting married, and our 5 month old is playing in his walker as I type this. Guess Mr. Right was there all along!

Not yet, but our wedding date is June 12, 2009! We've been together for almost 5 years!

My friend is also still with her (junior) high school sweetheart. They've been a couple for 6 years, since 7th grade!

No and I'm so glad I didn't. He was an alcoholic when we dated in high school, and continued along that track, adding cocaine and who knows what else to his repertoire. Plus he never finished college, and probably would have expected me to provide for us financially. Now he's married with a son, and I'm living with the love of my life.

I would never go back and do it either. And I agree with the person that said that you need to grow up without them. I am not the same person that I was when I was 16, 19, 22, or even 24. I think that he would have held me back from becoming who I wanted to be, and who I am today. :)

My high school boyfriends were awful! I thought they were great at the time.

I did marry a guy I have been FRIENDS with since High School. We were friends for almost 15 years before we got married. We both had other relationships throughout high school and adulthood. I think those other relationships taught us a lot and have paved the way for a better relationship.

Actually I married my child sweetheart, we've been friends since age 10. We started dating seriously at age 18 and now we're married 8 years and still going strong!

Nope, thank God!

I was "so certain" that we were "perfect" for one another.

Then I got sick of fighting all the time! After a FIVE YEAR relationship, I kicked him to the curb. Dated around in college and after I graduated, met my husband. He's completely different from that silly high-school sweetheart and NOW I know what it is to be in love!

No. He married someone else. My husband's first wife was his high school sweetheart. They got married right after hi-school and get divorce on their 1st anniversary. That's not cute. My youngest sister married her hi-school sweetheart and they have three kids. They will celebrate their 22 anniversary this coming Dec.16.

No, and I'm soooo glad I didn't. People change and grow so much from highschool to when they are in their 20's. I rarely think it's a good idea for highschool sweethearts to marry UNLESS they have dated throughout college and therefore, taken the time to know each other on different levels (i.e. as they've matured and grown).
