We got a kitten that is about 4 months old from the animal shelter. We got her and she had diarrhea for a week. The shelter had us leave her for a week, they said it is her diet. They gave us special can food said to mix it with her dry food. She still has diarrhea. Any suggestions on a good food that will help stop the diarrhea.

Tater, now 6 months old had diarrhea until just about a month ago. It took him 4, 4 1/2 months to just "grow out" of it. My vet ran every test out there to find out what it was and he could never definitively come up with an answer. The only thing was was that Tater did have a just a few bacteria in intestines, which is not uncommon and my vet told me the amount of the bacteria in there shouldn't have been giving him any problem. We did give him "good" bacteria, for a few days, to try to flush the "bad" bacteria out. That didn't seem to make much difference. Needless to say, we still don't know exactly what was wrong.
I just made sure he had plenty of water and I did start to feed him Science Diet Kitten food which did firm his poos up a bit.

If she has diarrhea on that stuff, Id slowly take her off of it. It is obviously doing her harm or something is.

But if you do, do it gradually. I mean like a teaspoon of new kitty food for a week. then 2 teaspoons the next and slow on. Not cold turkey cause that will be too hard on her belly.

But for the diarrhea, have her take some plain pedialyte for electrolytes. A little bit of peptobismal. Not alot cause it can constipate.

But take her to a vet and if possible take her meal food with her. Like a can or bag or whatever it comes in.

Make sure to NOT feed her milk from a cow goat or whatever since that causes diarrhea.

Kitten Formula is safe.

You need to give the cats dry and wet food trust me.
If there is blood go to the Vet asap and give it some
Albon. I use Trade Joe wet food and Royal cain dry
Use only premuim food.
Try Royal Canin Kitten (pink bag) dry food
and
Natural Blance Wet.

My kitten had terrible diarrhea until I stopped giving her cow's milk. Goat's milk is O.K.
