wouldn't it be nice if the whole world shot off our nukes into space for an ultimate fireworks show and ceased all future production of such weapons?

Havn't you ever seen Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb? in that classic film it is explicitly explained how detonating several dozen radioactive bombs, even if burried underground would cause enough nuclear fallout to cause a radioactive shroud to encircle the earth, lasting for nearly a hundred years, effectively killing all plant and human life on earth as we know it. Even if we shot them off into space, there would be enough fallout to fall back down on the earth's atmosphere, causing a similar effect. further more, according to the testimony of the lead scientist in this mockumentary, ridding the worlds stock of nuclear weapons in such a way, would increase world tensions more than anything. In order to avoid being killed in the nuclear hollocaust, many mineshafts would have to be rebuilt to accomodate several hundred thousands of our top government and military officials and civilians to repopulate the earth. This would inevetibly lead to a cold-war-esque "MineShaftGap". Is this really what you want?

Yeah and the massive EMP such a hippy event would cause would cripple the modern world. No if anything we need to realize massive megaton weapons are product of the cold war and build a new generation of tactical nuclear weapons.

Yes, it would be fantastic if all nations would do this but with mutual distrust between nations , hatred among nations , inhumanity to man from the lowest level up to the top etc this is a dream only but can be a reality if we start to build upon our similiarities and focus on differences that can be compromises to likennesses then the process can begin to make this a reality.
