Hi there. I would like to have a beach theme wedding in San Diego, Mission Bay/La Jolla area. Can anyone tell me of a nice and good place where I can hold the reception. I love the beach so I would like to have it as beachy as possible. Also inside. I would like to spend no more that $10 thousand on this. I have around 125 guests I am also looking for a DJ and photographer. I didn't like the boat cruise for a wedding. I have only been living here for about 2yrs. So don't know many places.

All help is appreciated.

Well it isn't SD but Hotel Laguna is very nice and classy! It is an older hotel but you can get married on there private beach and hold you reception in one of there three rooms that over look the beach. We are getting married there and is around $10,000. They do all the meals, set up, clean up, you get a wedding coordinator, your hotel room for the night of your wedding, all waitstaff, bartender, the grooms dressing room, and your liens. You also don't have to have a permit to get married on their private beach!

Also try celebration photo and video they are really cheap and take wonderful photos. I just got my engagement photos back (love all of them not one bad shot in the group.) We are having 2 photographers 2 video guys, our book, 2 parents books, 200 5x7 print outs, and we get all our negatives so we can print out more later. We are also getting all our wedding footage, and a short version 30 min DVD of the wedding to music. Plus we can copy the DVD if we want to!They travel every where! It costing us a little over $3,000. for all of it!!

Best wishes and good luck in all your planing!

The Hotel Del Coronado does a wonderful job. My sil andI planned her wedding with a little help from them. I did their ceremony on HDC's private beach.... wow, it was nice! I do not think thiers had 125 people and it was close to $10K.

I also did one in Carlsbad; they went to a smaller restaurant just up the street from the beach.

If you use the beach, you'll need to coordinate through I believe it's the state beach department, and possibly the city.

I'd suggest a saturday morning cruise (drive, walk, bike) around the beaches to see what's out there, or grab the phone book. Some of the other nicer hotels have reception rooms, and that kind of stuff as well.

Congrats & good luck

The lighthouse at Point Loma. It's absolutely stunning around sunset! I'm not sure if they're still allowing weddings there so start at the gift shop and they should be able to direct you from there.

There's also Coronado bay near the ferry landing on Coronado Island or over at Seaport Village. There's several areas in Del Mar as well. The Scripps Institute of Oceanography used to allow you to use their grounds.

It's been a few years since I lived in San Diego but I have attended weddings at all of these sites. I agree that the Hotel Del is WAY over priced but I have been to absolutely fabulous weddings there.

Have you ever looked at this sight?

They have over 130 reception places listed for the San Diego area and over 100 photographers and 50 DJs in the area. It is a great place to do some research. Each venue has a descriptions and pictures and you can contact the venues or vendors directly via email through the site.

Good Luck to you.

I found the San Diego Parks website and you can "rent" parts of the parks out for a wedding, including a beach. This may be cheaper depending on how you do it.

Here are some sites with wedding locations, don't know what they charge but they all have numbers you can call.
